KARACHI – Disputes have erupted within the ruling group of FPCCI, and these issues have become evident during the recent meetings of the organization. Prominent figures within the ruling group (BMP)have expressed their dismay over favoritism, nepotism and the neglect of merit by the group’s chairman. They have pointed out that a significant number of representatives from various trade bodies lack a voice within FPCCI, and the apex body is failing to fulfill its role in enhancing the image of trade bodies. They have further highlighted that important decisions are being made without their consultation, resulting in their voices being completely silenced in shaping economic policies, causing significant harm to their respective sectors.
They said country is grappling with a significant decline in exports and foreign investments , yet FPCCI and its ruling group have remained remarkably silent on these pressing issues.
Prominent figures of the Executive Committee of FPCCI some of them are within the ruling group (BMP)have also expressed their deep concern over the dire state of Pakistan’s economy. They believe that Fpcci , as the apex body representing trade bodies and businessmen should play a pivotal role in addressing and mitigating these challenges. However they assert that the ruling group led by its chairman office bearers of FPCCI have shown a clear lack of initiative and failed to take a meaningful steps to revive the economy.
They further said that decline in exports has had a detrimental impact on Pakistan ‘s
International trade and overall economic stability.
They further went on saying that despite this alarming situation the ruling group and office bearers of FPCCI have not adequately addressed the underlying causes or formulated effective strategies to boost exports. The absence of proactive measures has led to further stagnation and diminished opportunities for economic growth, they added.
In addition foreign investment in Pakistan have plummeted, exacerbating the already fragile economic situation. The ruling group and office bearers’ silence and inaction on important economy matters have left the business community feeling abandoned and disheartened. They believe that Fpcci should actively engage with potential investors both domestic and foreign to restore confidence and attract much-needed capital to stimulate economic development
The members of BMP have also brought attention to the fact that the policy decision of entrusting the chairmanship to another province, which was decided by the BMP, has not been implemented even after a lapse of five years. This failure to implement the decision is a clear indication of the violation of their group’s manifesto.
Furthermore, it has been observed that the BMP meeting held in Lahore was boycotted by members from other provinces, who instead conducted their meeting in Karachi. Additionally, some BMP members have resigned from their positions, considering them to be of no use.
The disputes within the BMP indicate an impending breakup. Upon investigation, leaders and members of the BMP from other provinces have confirmed their grievances with the BMP leadership, whom they accuse of behaving like dictators, which is unacceptable. They have also alleged that the BMP leadership has appointed acquaintances to positions within FPCCI without considering merit, resulting in high salaries and privileges being granted. This has severely impacted the financial stability of FPCCI, which is already on the verge of collapse.
With the FPCCI elections fast approaching, trade bodies are expressing their dissatisfaction with the performance of FPCCI. They believe that BMP has been a complete failure during its tenure
