Karachi Pakistan : The Consumers Association of Pakistan (CAP) and the Pakistan–Sri Lanka Friendship Association jointly hosted a Diplomatic Luncheon in honour of His Excellency Sanjeewa Panjeewa Pattiwila, the newly appointed Consul General of Sri Lanka in Karachi.
The luncheon was hosted by Kaukab Iqbal, Chairman, Consumers Association of Pakistan (CAP) and President, Pakistan–Sri Lanka Friendship Association; Ar. Kafeel Hussain, Chairman, KHA–Business IR & Chairman, Diplomatic Affairs, CAP; and Abdul Salam Dadabhoy, Senior Vice Chairman, CAP.

The event was held at the prestigious Karachi Gymkhana, where. Irfan Soomro, Director General, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Government of Pakistan, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
In his welcome address, Kaukab Iqbal extended a warm welcome to His Excellency Sanjeewa Panjeewa Pattiwila, expressing his heartfelt wishes for the success of his diplomatic tenure in Pakistan “We are honoured to welcome His Excellency to Karachi,” said Kaukab Iqbal. “Pakistan and Sri Lanka share a longstanding and brotherly relationship based on mutual respect, culture, and cooperation. We look forward to enhancing trade, cultural exchange, and people-to-people ties between our two nations.”

His Excellency Sanjeewa Panjeewa Pattiwila, while addressing the gathering, expressed his appreciation for the warm hospitality extended by the Pakistani business and diplomatic community. “I feel truly comfortable and honoured to serve in Pakistan,” he said. “Karachi’s business community has shown great respect and enthusiasm toward Sri Lanka. My posting here reflects my personal interest and affection for Pakistan. Both our countries enjoy a great brotherly bond, and I aim to further strengthen our cooperation in trade and cultural exchange.”

The Chief Guest, Irfan Soomro, Director General, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, congratulated the Consul General and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Sri Lanka. “We warmly welcome His Excellency and hope his tenure will further promote friendship, trade, and especially tourism between our two nations. Pakistan and Sri Lanka have tremendous opportunities for mutual collaboration, and we look forward to exploring these avenues together,” said Irfan Soomro.

On this occasion, Kaukab Iqbal and Ar. Kafeel Hussain presented mementos to His Excellency Sanjeewa Panjeewa Pattiwila and Irfan Soomro, as a token of goodwill and friendship. Gifts were also presented to the distinguished Guests of Honour.
The luncheon concluded with an exchange of pleasantries, reaffirming the shared commitment of both nations to further promote diplomatic, trade, and cultural cooperation.
