CUTTING TREES AND PLANTS MAY LEAD TO DRASTIC AND DANGEROUS CLIMATE CHANGE IN PAKISTAN.

Karachi: Muhammad Noman Saigal Convener Standing Committee FPCCI on Horticulture and Former Minister  Environment Alternative Energy Health and IT has shown deep concern about eliminating the plants and Trees specially in huge cities like Karachi keeping in view that we already have the Cutting of trees prohibited act 1992 in force and on top of it Pepa  Act exercised by the Environment Protection Agency of Sind always play a vital role to stop these actions but various bodies, departments and private sector groups are involved in cutting trees and plants on a very high scale instead of growing new plants .

We have observed Environment Day and reasons and issues of negative climate change but we can see all over the city specially Karachi where beautiful trees at main Shaheed e Millat Road are being chopped in front of me by the Government department now this whole road which was surrounded by beautiful trees since years has become barren will lead to drastic climate change issues.

On the other hand, various NGOs, etc. are trying to plant new trees all over the city. In this regard, we request the Sind Government and the Honorable Mayor of Karachi to please use his Good Offices in this regard and this brutal damage should be stopped.

Dubai and other countries like Saudi Arabia etc. are trying to grow trees and practicing strict laws to maintain greenery in the country we can see how the positive impact on climate change is taking place there. Strict laws should be practiced in Pakistan and cities like Karachi to avoid the drastic effects of climate change.

Many health issues are spreading among the people living in the city and there are chances of serious health problems shortly. But nobody is bothered to put his foot down in Government specially to make policies of environmental impact by just stopping this kind of Disaster. We must raise our voices and request our esteemed authorities to do the needful as it’s high time otherwise it will i’ll be too late.

Muhammad Noman Saigal
