KARACHI : As per directives of Director General, Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority
Mr. Taufiq Ali Abbasi and Director, Conformity Assessment Karachi, PSQCA Mr. Muhammad Ashraf
Palari, the team of PSQCA under the leadership of Deputy Director Sajid Mian Bhutto and Assistant
Director Imtiaz Ali Memon alongwith set up a modern mobile testing lab conducted a surprise
inspection of private superstores located in Gulistan Johar and checked the products which include
Cooking Oil, Ghee, Tea, Cosmetics, Talcum Powder, Face Creams etc. More than 17 Samples of
different brands of Cooking Oil and Ghee were collected on this occasion and it was immediately tested
by the state-of-the-art mobile testing lab on site. After which it was confirmed that a brand is sub-
standard, which was de-shelved and sealed while taking further action in this regard and a notice was
also issued. Director Conformity Assessment Karachi Mr. Mohammad Ashraf Palari while talking to the
media said that sub-standard cooking oil is harmful to health, with modern mobile lab, harmful ghee and
cooking oil will be tested on the spot in supermarkets and open markets. He said that the purpose of such
actions is to make it possible to provide quality goods to the citizens. Deputy Director Mr. Sajid Mian
Bhutto and Assistant Director Mr. Imtiaz Ali Memon said that there is complete ban on unregistered
items. Our team is going to different areas for spot testing of ghee, cooking oil and taking steps to stop
sale of unhealthy products.
