On March 132024, a Japanese pottery lecture and workshop was held at the Japan Information and Culture Center. Students from Behbud Boys’ Secondary School Karachi participated in the engaging workshop.
Miss Abeer Asim of Mudpie Studios educated the students about Japanese pottery and the fascinating handicrafts that originate from Ishikawa Prefecture. Ishikawa Prefecture is home to the Noto Peninsula, where the 2024 New Years Day Earthquake occurred.
Deputy Consul-General NAKAGAWA Yasushi addressed the students, briefing them about the earthquake in Japan and the efforts being made to rebuild and reconstruct the affected areas. He also commended the efforts of Pakistani youth in taking steps to gaining cultural understanding to improve ties between Japan and Pakistan.
The students were handed booklets of the different kinds of pottery that Ishikawa Prefecture is known for and engaged in pottery-making with the guidance of Miss Asim. It was captivating and delightful for the excited students to experiment with their hands and take home their masterpieces.
