KARACHI : The Consulate General of France, in partnership with the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) and the Institute of Business Administration Karachi (IBA), successfully organized the closing event for the 2nd edition of the SOCIAL SCIENCES Winter School Karachi. The event, held at the Alliance française de Karachi, brought together Consul Generals, dignitaries, and members of the business community.
The highlight of the evening was the presence and speeches of distinguished guests, including Alexis Chahtahtinsky, Consul General of France; Akbar Zaidi, Executive Director of IBA; Remy Delage, Associate Researcher and Co-director of the Master in Asian Studies for CENTER FOR SOUTH ASIAN AND HIMALAYAN; and Michel Boivin, Director of Research at CNRS/Emeritus Director at CNRS Center for South Asian and Himalayan Studies (CESAH).
Consul General Alexis Chahtahtinsky commenced the event with a warm welcome, expressing gratitude to the Alliance française de Karachi for hosting the event. He emphasized the longstanding partnership between France and Pakistan, highlighting the 76 years of cooperation across various domains, with a particular emphasis on culture and higher education.
During his speech, the Consul General mentioned the recent initiatives, including the “Choose France” higher education fair and the celebration of the International Day of French language teachers. He acknowledged the presence of French and Pakistani archaeologists, highlighting their cooperation over the last 60 years.
The Consul General celebrated the success of the scientific cooperation in social sciences, emphasizing the long-term commitment of both French and Pakistani teams. He commended the quality of the Winter School program, encouraging continued growth in scientific exchanges. He expressed gratitude to the teams on both sides for their pedagogical and logistical efforts.
In conclusion, Consul General Chahtahtinsky expressed hope that the 2nd Winter School would inspire new initiatives for joint research and cooperation, fostering a deeper understanding of each other’s cultures and strengthening French-Pakistani relations.
The evening concluded with a mesmerizing performance of folk music by Ustad Nafees Khan and a delightful dinner, providing an opportunity for the guests to continue their conversations in a friendly atmosphere.
