Chicago, USA: Consul General of Pakistan to Chicago Tariq Karim attended the Annual event of Pakistani-descent Physicians Society (PPS) at Northbrook, Illinois. A large number of people from diverse backgrounds were present.
Speaking at the occasion, the Consul General commended the valuable services rendered by the PPS in the healthcare sector, its bridge-building role, exchanging knowledge, technology & expertise in the field of medicines and their philanthropic activities, particularly during the Covid-19 pandemic and the ongoing catastrophic floods in Pakistan.
The Consul General appreciated the stewardship of its outgoing President, Dr. Asif Syed & his efforts in providing humanitarian assistance for flood victims in Pakistan, particularly the shipment of over one million Tylenol (Paracetamol) tablets. He underscored that the climate-induced floods have caused massive destruction in Pakistan and affected millions of people. Though the Government of Pakistan was making all out efforts to rehabilitate the flood victims but given the enormous scale of destruction, no country can cope with such a disaster alone. He urged the Pakistani Diaspora to continue to extend their financial and material assistance for the flood victims as rehabilitation and reconstruction of affected areas will take a long time.
The Consul General also welcomed the incoming PPS team and assured them of the Consulate’s full support in furthering PPS work.
