KARACHI : The Japanese Consulate in Karachi organized Japan Fest 2024 in collaboration with Arts Council of Pakistan, Pakistan Japan Cultural Association and Pakistan Japan Business Forum to celebrate Japanese culture, traditions and values. In addition to the Japanese residing in Karachi, a large number of people associated with education, social, political and business circles participated. The Japan Fest showcased Japanese martial arts, Japanese ancient games and Japanese music in addition to Eke Bana and Bonsai exhibitions to highlight Japanese culture. Hattori Masaru, Consul General of Japan at the event, in his speech of thanks to the participants emphasized the importance of promoting cultural ties between Pakistan and Japan in his welcome remarks. He said that programs like Japan Fest play the role of a bridge to increase bilateral friendship and mutual agreement This year’s main theme is Japan Pakistan Fun, which is based on Japanese culture. He expressed hope that with such a program we will be able to create mutual understanding and rapprochement between the two countries. Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab attended the event as a special guest. He appreciated the Japanese Consulate’s promotion of various cultural activities for the interest and entertainment of the people of Karachi and offered to provide the Fair Hall for Japan Fest 2025. He said that Japan is not only a manifestation of technology and innovation, but Pakistani people can learn the importance of culture, heritage and language from Japan. The fest was attended by PJCA President Saad Yeh Rashid, PJBF Chairman Murtaza Mandviwala, Arts Council President Ahmed Shah, Kaleem Farooqui, and others.
