Karachi Pakistan – Muhammad Noman Saigal Former Minister and Chairman Standing Committee FPCCI has shown deep concern over the monopoly of a single group in power generation sector, where in Karachi the source of electric supply is in the control of one company which Leads to exploitation of public sector who are not in a position to pay the electric bills which are beyond their limits even more then the monthly income even for white collar jobs, this may lead to corruption and crime in Karachi.
Considering various sectors like Airlines, cellular companies, IT companies, Transport companies, courier companies etc we can see competition due to which prices are under control and people can afford to use them, but why the electrical supply is monopolized and no relief has been considered so fare. No installment plan is considered for the public sector. Specially in summers from the month of April to October the bills are unbearable.
Now its high time that competition should take place and more hydel power generation electric supply companies should be introduced in Karachi to enable the common people to get relief on electric charges with huge taxes in curred.
If the government and corporate groups want to develop Karachi and bring win win situation for the people of Karachi they should design a plan to allow other companies in power sector to create competition will force concerned companies to reduce the charges drastically may give relief to the middle class families who will feel reliefed get peace of mind, because presently no country in the world work like this in power sector.
If no action is taken immediately we dread high corruption rate and crime rate to enable the public sector to bear pressure of electric bills and other amenities as well.
