Pakistan: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has called for the daily observance of Zero Waste Day, stressing the responsible use of essential items and the importance of waste management. In a message shared on Zero Waste Day, she highlighted the need to transition to environmentally friendly alternatives, particularly in reducing one-time use plastics.
The chief minister pledged to implement a comprehensive waste management plan in major cities and introduce effective and sustainable cleanliness projects in villages. She reiterated her commitment to achieving cleanliness in every city, village, and street across Punjab.
Emphasizing the global environmental challenges, she stressed the importance of an industrial economy that promotes effective and responsible resource usage to minimize waste.
This year’s theme for the International Day of Zero Waste is “Let’s all work together to build a world where waste is minimized, resources are valued, and our planet thrives!”
