Chitral Enrolment Campaign: Walk for Education.

CHITRAL: An awareness walk function held  in a series of enrolment campaign in the government schools in collaboration with Helotas  and Education department.  This walk was held at historical Government Primary School  Drosh established in 1938. This school was established  a century ago which has educated the most famous people of Chitral. The walk was started from this historical educational institution and passes through old bazaar of Drosh and then enter in new Bazaar, which was converted in a function at Drosh Chowk. The walk was led by Field Officer Azhar Iqbal, DEO Chitral, ADEO Lower Chitral, Qari Jamal Nasir, former Chairman District Council Alhaj Khurshid Ali Khan, President Trader Union Drosh Haji Gul Nawaz, Village Council Damil Chairman Haji Sher Zamin, Principal Government Higher Secondary School Drosh Saleem Kamil, headmaster of the school and members of trade Union, social workers, as well as a large number of  students attended. Students were carrying banners and play cards in their hands, which listened to the slogan that knowledge was for all.

Besides it enrolment  campaign were also held in different parts of lower Chitral by Helvetas in collaboration with Education Department Chitral. The campaign was attended by a large number of people involved in the Chitral Town, Kaisu and Kalkatak, in addition to the education department. The campaign, which was chanting slogans  that education for everyone, was aimed at ensuring the enrollment of children in schools upto 5 years and more. Azhar Iqbal said that they also trying of their best to enrolled children of Afghan refugees living in different camps at lower chitral. Addressing to the ceremony, the participants urged the parents to send their children to schools by the age of five years. The District Education Officer said that parents should send their children to any school so that they do not deprived from  education. VC Chairman Haji Sher Zamin  expressed his concern that the academic year had started  and after four months, free books have not yet been sent to Govt  schools, which causes children’s valuable time to waste. On the other hand, the government is urging people to send their children to Govt  schools, but even after four months in these schools, free books are not available yet, how can they give  quality education to children?President Trade Union Drosh  Haji Gul Nawaz, Alhaj Khurshid Ali Khan, Azhar Iqbal and others also expressed their views on the occasion. In connection of enrolment  campaign, walk and function was held  this school which  was in 1938. A large number of  students studying in this school achieved highest position even they serves as Ambassador of Pakistan in foreign countries, Chief Secretary, Doctor, Professor, Civil, military and  police officers are also among them. The purpose of holding function in this school was to attract attention of  children that if they also with great enthusiasm, they could grow up and become a high officer. Assistant Education Officer Inamullah enrolled some children in this school.
