Chairman, Pak-Malaysia Business Council of FPCCI.

M. Bashir Janmohammed, Chairman, Pak-Malaysia Business Council of FPCCI, hosted Dinner to High Commissioner of Malaysia in Pakistan, H.E. Mr. Mohammad Azhar Mazlan on 11th February, 2023 at his residence, in which, besides Directors and prominent Members of Pak-Malaysia Business Council, H. E. Mr. Herman Hardynata Bin Ahmad, Consul General of Malaysia in Karachi and other high officials of Malaysian Embassy/Consulate were present.  Guests of the occasion were Admiral (R) Syed Hassan Nasir Shah HI (M) Chairman Port Qasim Authority PQA, Rear Admiral Jawad Ahmed SI Chairman Pakistan National Shipping Corporation PNSC, Imran Maniar Managing Director Sui Southern Gas Company Limited SSGC,  Farrakh Hassan Khan Managing Director Pakistan Stock Exchange PSX, Arif Habib Chairman Arif Habib Group, Aziz Jindani  Chief Executive Officer Dalda, Dawood Janmuhammad, Mian Abdullah sahib and a large number of notable industrialists & importers, particularly relating to Vanaspati & Edible Oils, other dignitaries, Bankers, Senior Officials of Port Qasim Authority, Pakistan National Shipping Corporation, Karachi Port Trust and Ports and Shipping Department also attended.

It was very useful interactive meeting, in which the Chairman, Mr. Bashir Janmohammed and the High Commissioner of Malaysia discussed in detail the matters of bilateral trade between Malaysia and Pakistan and exchanged views for its promotion.

Mr. Bashir while presenting best compliments to Malaysian High Commissioner and the Consul General, extended gratitude for all their support provided to the business community from time to time, for promotion of bilateral trade between two brotherly countries.  

Mr. M. Bashir Janmohammed pointed out that, although Malaysia is very important business partner of Pakistan since seventies but Pakistan is continuously facing trade deficit with Malaysia and trade imbalance has touched around US Dollar one Billion in recent years.  The main cause is lesser exports from Pakistan to Malaysia, as compared to the imports from Malaysia.

He stressed on the need for diversifying trade product and taking other steps to enhance Pakistan’s export to Malaysia, particularly, export of Rice, Fruit, Vegetables, Textile, Garments & Seafood, Medical & Surgical Goods and other Non-traditional Products.   Mr. Bashir expressed that Pak-Malaysia Business Council is endeavouring its best to promote export from Pakistan to Malaysia, however, cooperation of the High Commission and relevant quarters in Malaysia, would be needed.

Mr. M. Bashir Janmohammed highlighted that the aim before Pak-Malaysia Business Council is to promote and enhance trade ties and collaboration in bilateral trade, business activities, joint ventures, particularly investment and exchange of trade delegations participation in Fairs and Exhibitions for facilitating both the countries, which was appreciated by the High Commissioner.

H.E. Mr. Mohammad Azhar Mazlan, High Commissioner of Malaysia appreciated the role played by Pak-Malaysia Business Council in promoting bilateral trade.  He informed that there is acute shortage of Poultry & Eggs in Malaysia, which are currently imported in large number.  He invited Pakistani businessmen to supply chicken and eggs to Malaysia and also establish Poultry and Halal Meat business in Malaysia and assured that High Commission will provide all possible cooperation and assistance in this regard.

The High Commissioner also expressed that a lot of opportunities exist in Malaysia and Pakistani businessmen and investors can establish their own business at Kuala Lumpur, which will not only cover Malaysian market but also neighbouring ASEAN countries, having mutually agreed regulations, procedures and facilities in respect of trade and business, that could be beneficial for both the countries.

Mr. Bashir Janmohammed appreciated the gesture extended by the High Commissioner and thanked him for his proactive approach for promotion of bilateral trade.
