Adding further fuel to its sky-high inflation, the caretaker government on Friday approved a Rs26 hike in petrol price fourth successive since it came into power.
According to the announcement, the price of gasoline has increased by Rs 26.02 to Rs 331.38, while the price of High-Speed Diesel (HSD) has increased by Rs 17.34 to Rs 329.18.
The government has decided to change the current consumer pricing of petroleum products, according to the finance division, because of the rising trend in oil prices on the global market.
On August 31, the caretaker administration raised the cost of gasoline and high-speed diesel by Rs17.50 and Rs20, respectively, beginning on September 1, 2023.
Prior to that, a day after assuming office, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar had authorized a price increase of Rs17.50 for gasoline and Rs20 for high-speed diesel.
