Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) President Salman Aslam and KITE Limited CEO Zubair Chhaya have praised Additional IG Sindh, DIG traffic Ahmed Nawaz Cheem SSP Ahmed Baig and other officials for running the traffic smoothly during torrential rainfall in Karachi. They expressed satisfaction with the services of all police personnel. They said that Additional IG Sindh Javed Odho fulfilled his promise on the occasion of his visit to KATI. They also mentioned that a number has been issued in Karachi, the capital of Sindh province, to help the citizens stranded in the rain. People with their vehicles stranded can call on this number and the traffic police will help them.
KATI President Salman Aslam said that despite the heavy rains and high flow of water, the services of the traffic officers and personnel on duty on the roads were commendable. He lauded the performance of the traffic police officers and personnel in performing their best duties during the rains in the city of Karachi and especially in the Korangi industrial area.
Salman Salem said that more than 400 mm of rain was recorded in different parts of Karachi during the four days after Eid-ul-Adha which has badly affected the two main artilleries Korangi Road and Korangi Causeway, as in the past, the city was cut off from the Korangi industrial area. But even in heavy rains, traffic police officers have played an important role in maintaining traffic flow with dedication and hard work.
President KATI said that the traffic officers and personnel are commendable for clearing the road for all kinds of traffic. He requested the traffic authorities to take action against the violators of traffic rules so that the citizens do not face any difficulty. Salman Aslam said that the business community should co-operate with the traffic staff to eliminate encroachments from the city and ensure a smooth flow of traffic.
Zubair Chhaya, CEO, Kite Limited, said that the complete closure of Korangi Road and Korangi Causeway during the torrential rains has put all the traffic pressure on the Jam Sadiq Bridge for the last several years as there is no alternative route for the industrial area. After the rains, people were stuck in traffic for several hours on the Jam Sadiq Bridge. However, under the direction of Additional IG, the traffic police were present for the smooth flow of traffic on Jam Sadiq Bridge, which saved the people from severe distress.
Zubair Chhaya further said that the decision of the police to issue numbers to help those who are stranded is welcome, as it will help the people in need to get help in time. He thanked the Additional IG Sindh and the traffic police and said that the business community will continue to cooperate with the police in every possible way so that not only law and order but also the traffic system in the city would continue to flow smoothly, while full action can be taken against the perpetrators and violators.
