Karachi – Singer and composer Azaan Sami Khan just dropped his sophomore album, titled AZAAN, after an entire year of taking his fans along the journey of making the album. The album comes as a follow-up to the singer’s debut album, Main Tera (2021).
The album comprises eight tracks, including Maa, Nadaan Dil, Beby, Aap Hi Rehtay Hain Dil Main, Husn e Jaan, Ham Dam, Man Marzi, and Rang De. AZAAN the album’s journey was kickstarted with a trailer release in October, featuring Khan in various roles and providing a sneak peek into the album’s diverse personas. With appearances from Sanam Saeed, Syra Yousuf, and Aena Khan, the trailer set the stage for a visually dynamic musical journey.
According to the artist, AZAAN the album is like a personal journey set to music, exploring different sounds and blending them with familiar tunes from his past. Rooted in his love for the larger-than-life emotions found in ‘filmy’ music, this album is all about connecting with different feelings.
“I will always say that my music will always be somewhat biographical in nature. It will always give you the most real insight into who I am. And with this album, I like that there’s a certain randomness to it. If I try to define it too much or make it binary, it might actually take away from it. I’m enjoying the most this time around is that I feel a bit freer,” said Khan while discussing the album.
The artist had similar thoughts when making it a self-titled album. “I named it ‘Azaan’ because I felt like it was very intimate. It was what I was feeling at that time. If anything, it’s a random collection of emotions of mine that I felt over the past couple of years,” he shared.
AZAAN the album’s release journey began with Nadaan Dil, the video of which was recorded at the iconic Abbey Road Studios in London. Moving on with a personal touch, Khan shared a snippet of another track Maa, from a performance he did in front of his mother, Zeba Bakhtiar, at the Knock Knock Show. Prior to the album release on 12th November, Khan released a music video for Beby, a collaboration with Filmwala Pictures, directed by Nabeel Qureshi and produced by Fizza Meerza, and featuring Aena Khan. These initial releases gave a glimpse into the diverse palette of AZAAN the album, which features tracks covering various genres and moods.
AZAAN the album is now streaming on all major platforms.
