Audio leaks have become the focus of national politics. Both the government and the opposition are now trying to discredit each other on the basis of audio leaks.
Both of them have come face to face on this issue but in hindsight the burden of the government is heavy and problems may arise for Imran Khan in this case.
PTI Secretary General Asad Umar has filed a petition in the Supreme Court to form a commission of inquiry against Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Rana Sanaullah, Azam Nazir Tarar, Khawaja Asif, Ahsan Iqbal, Ayaz Sadiq and Raja Pervez Ashraf.
On the other hand, the federal cabinet has officially approved legal action against former Prime Minister Imran Khan, his fellow ministers and former Secretary to Prime Minister Azam Khan.
The Cabinet has approved investigation and legal action by FIA into the diplomatic cipher audio leak. On September 30, the cabinet had formed a cabinet committee on Imran Khan’s cipher-related audio leak.
The Cabinet Committee has approved the recommendations of the Cabinet Committee through circulation. The Cabinet Committee has declared that it is a matter of national security which has serious adverse effects on national interests. The task of inquiry has been given to FIA.
The first audio of Imran Khan regarding the diplomatic cipher was released on September 28. The second audio of Imran Khan related to the diplomatic cipher was released on September 30. Audio leaks show Imran Khan, Azam Khan, Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Asad Umar consulting on changing the cipher.
Imran Khan has admitted in a private interview that he had a copy of the cipher with me, I don’t know where it got lost. By admitting this, they have fallen into a trap of their own making.
This is a serious matter in which Imran Khan is involved and his arrest in this case is also expected because the federal government has decided as a policy that no concession or leniency will be given to Imran Khan.
