Karachi: Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi organized book launch of renowned poet, writer, and artist Irfan Murtaza’s latest work, “Makaalmat e Irfan”, was held at the Haseena Moin Hall under the auspices of the Literary Committee (Fiction). The event was presided over by famous poet, researcher, and educationist Dr. Pirzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui. President Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi Mohammad Ahmed Shah, Syed Farasat Rizvi, Dr. Rukhsana Saba, Akhtar Saeedi, Khalilullah Farooqi, and Akhlaq Ahmad shared their insights. The ceremony was moderated by Shakeel Khan. During the event, a special showreel showcasing Irfan Murtaza’s artwork was presented. Speaking at the occasion, President Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi Mohammad Ahmed Shah, praised Murtaza’s skills as a painter, noting that his restlessness is often expressed through colors and words. He further mentioned that Irfan Murtaza has kept the Urdu language alive in Los Angeles.In his presidential address, Dr. Pirzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui highlighted that Irfan Murtaza is a multifaceted personality who serves Urdu literature even while residing in the United States. He emphasized that Murtaza’s work as a painter has earned international acclaim, and his conceptual dialogues represent a new dimension in visual arts. He further added that true creative expression emerges when internal and external turmoil come together in harmony. Chairman of the Literary Committee (Fiction), Akhlaq Ahmad, expressed his astonishment at Irfan Murtaza’s conceptual dialogue, recognizing it as a unique form of literature. Dr. Rukhsana Saba elaborated that the simplicity of a dialogue lies in its exchange of thoughts between two individuals, which could take form in written or dramatic expressions. She added that “Makaalmat e Irfan” covers a vast range of topics, including individual, social, political, and economic matters, and that the dialogue portrayed in this book reflects harmony and mutual respect. Khalilullah Farooqi commented that the foundation of literature, poetry, and creative art is rooted in imagination, which nurtures passion. He noted that the book mentions thirty-two eminent personalities, and upon reading it, readers will feel as though they are conversing with these figures themselves. Akhtar Saeedi praised the structure of the book, stating it is arranged alphabetically, allowing readers to engage in conversations with fictional characters in such a way that they would forget they are mere figments of imagination. Irfan Murtaza, in his closing remarks, thanked the audience and highlighted that a person’s tone reflects their emotions more than words alone. He expressed his deep affection for the city of Karachi, stating that despite being away for so long, he still feels at home here. He also thanked Mohammad Ahmed Shah for launching his book at such a prestigious literary institution, and explained that his work is a conceptual exploration of the styles of various poets, creating dialogues based on their words.
