(June-27-2023) Dr. Murtaza Mughal, President of Pakistan Economy Watch (PEW) said on Tuesday that the army leadership has provided an excellent example of responsibility and personal accountability by completing disciplinary action against serving and retired generals and their close relatives, which is praiseworthy.
Now the nation is waiting for the strictest action against the rioters and their patrons who have become a national security threat, he said.
In a statement issued here today, Dr Murtaza Mughal said that the terrorists should be brought to justice as soon as possible so that no one dares to play with the integrity of the country in the future.
He said that all the masterminds and planners of the events of May 9 did what even the enemy could not do, so they must be made an example.
This tragedy was a conspiracy against Pakistan, which was foiled by the army through its restraint at the time of demonstrations.
Dr. Murtaza Mughal said that the army is sacrificing lives almost every day in war against terror and suffering heavy losses, but the miscreants ignored their sacrifices, insulted the martyrs and hurt feelings of their families which is unforgivable.
Poisonous propaganda against the army is also going on to create divisions in the army and alienate the people from them, which is an attempt to strengthen the hands of the enemies, he added.
He rejected the miscreants’ accusations and said that if the army carried out the attacks on its own installations, was the army itself also spreading toxic propaganda against itself on social media?
He noted that there is no justification for raising human rights issues because these rights are not available to the traitors who are spreading chaos to damage the country.
Dr. Mughal said that the army has proved its moral superiority by taking action against its officers.
The time has come that important civilian officials should not defame themselves and their institutions with politics to please their relatives, act responsibly and give priority to merit.
