Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) Patron-in-Chief SM Muneer, President Salman Aslam, and KITE Limited CEO Zubair Chhaya welcomed the appointment of Syed Tariq Huda as the Chairman of Karachi Port Trust (KPT). Patron-in-Chief SM Muneer said that the government’s decision to appoint Tariq Huda as Chairman of KPT is welcome. He said that Tariq Huda has performed duties in Customs operation, Federal Board of Revenue (FBR). SM Muneer said that a long-standing relationship with Huda and his appointment would significantly enhance the performance of KPT.
KATI President Salman Aslam said that Tariq Huda is a devoted, courageous, and capable officer. He has always performed his responsibilities well, which is why he is considered as a reputable officer among government officials. He said that with the appointment of Chairman KPT, the business community hopes that he will play a key role in solving the problems in the shipping and delivery system. President KATI further said that Tariq Huda has served in important positions in Customs and FBR.
Zubair Chhaya, CEO of KITE Limited, said that he has known Tariq Huda for a long time and his appointment will further improve the understanding and collaboration between the business community and KPT. He said that the economy is going through a difficult period, and exports have decreased, in such a situation, Tariq Huda can play an important role in providing facilities and better services to exporters and importers.
Congratulating Tariq Huda, he said that KATI will always cooperate for the improvement of Karachi Port. He hoped that Tariq Huda would take all possible steps to improve the capacity and efficiency of KPT and facilitate modern technology and systems to address the grievances of the business community.
