Apple’s new ‘Invites’ app reimagines digital invitation culture in Pakistan

Apple has launched ‘Invites,’ a new iPhone application that enters the digital invitation space as Pakistani urban communities transition from traditional hand-delivered cards to electronic alternatives.

The shift in invitation practices has emerged particularly in cities, where traffic congestion has led many families to limit personal card deliveries to select households. Current digital alternatives often involve basic templates shared through messaging applications like WhatsApp.

The new platform provides several features for event planning. Users can select backgrounds from their photo library or the app’s gallery and incorporate location data through Maps integration. The Weather app connection displays forecasts for scheduled events.

The application includes AI-powered tools: Image Playground for creating custom images and Writing Tools for message composition. Event hosts can manage RSVPs and control which details appear in invitation previews, such as venue addresses and background designs.

Guests can access invitations through either the iPhone app or a web browser, without requiring an Apple account or iCloud+ subscription. The platform allows attendees to contribute to a shared photo album after events and includes Apple Music playlist sharing capabilities.

The release comes as Pakistani urban communities navigate between maintaining traditional customs and adapting to contemporary city life. Hand-delivered invitation cards remain significant in Pakistani culture, particularly for weddings, naming ceremonies, and house-warming events.

The application is available for download through the App Store and can be accessed via web browser at icloud.com/invites. It joins existing digital invitation options in a market where both traditional and electronic methods currently coexist.
