Oscar-winning Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie has stepped down from her duties as special envoy for United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees after more than 20 years.
Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie has been associated with the United Nations (UNHCR) since 2001 and was assigned the post of Special Envoy of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in 2012.
Angelina Jolie, who has worked for 21 years on the platform of the United Nations for the rehabilitation of war and disaster areas, has now lost her responsibilities.
In this regard, United Nations and Angelina Jolie have issued a joint statement.
47-year-old Angelina Jolie said, ‘I believe in many things the UN does, particularly the lives it saves through emergency relief.’
Jolie added, ‘I will be working now with organizations, and refugees, directly affected by conflict, that give the greatest voice to them.’
In a post on her Instagram handling, the Hollywood star wrote: “After over 20 years, I am stepping down today from my work with the UN refugee agency. Refugees are the people I admire most in the world and I am dedicated to working with them for the rest of my life.”
Angelina Jolie is the first Hollywood actress, who visited Pakistan after the flood was affected. In 2022, Angelina Jolie came to Pakistan to assess the damage caused by the unexpected heavy rains in Sindh and Balochistan and to help the victims.
