Today, not only in many countries in Asia and the Pakistan, but also all around the world, millions of families are celebrating Nowruz, continuing a tradition that dates back thousands of years. Activities that celebrate the arrival of Nowruz share many similarities with other spring festivals such as Easter, celebrated by Christians, and the Egyptian holiday called Sham Al-Naseem, which dates back to the time of the Pharaohs. During spring the hours of daylight grow and the hours of darkness diminish until at spring daylight begins to exceed darkness, so will the light of wisdom and righteousness increase until it prevails over the darkness of ignorance and malice.

For a large part of humanity, the first day of spring also marks the beginning of a new year. Since it signifies a new beginning, Nowruz is also a festival that is filled with hope, as expressed in the gentle and elegant words of the Persian poet Hafez: “Springtime is here again/With the charm of roses. Look at their fresh cheeks/And the bitter plant of sadness/Will be uprooted from your heart”.
