Karachi, July 28, 2025 – ?Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Mr. Ahsan Iqbal, paid a visit to his alma mater, FG Public School Karachi Cantt, where he addressed students and the faculty members.
Ahsan Iqbal said that his understanding of public policy and current affairs were deeply rooted in the values and education imparted by the school. “This institution laid the foundation of my public service journey. It didn’t just teach me subjects, it shaped my character and worldview,” he said. He also recalled the teachers who inspired and guided him, attributing much of his professional success to their mentorship.
The Federal Minister emphasized that a school was much more than a physical structure; it is a crucible where the future of a nation is shaped. “Education is not confined to books and exams. It is the sacred duty of teachers to nurture students with moral values, confidence, creativity, and a strong sense of responsibility,” he said.
Mr. Iqbal highlighted the critical role of education in nation-building, declaring it the most powerful weapon for progress and prosperity. “I come from a highly educated family. Education made me who I am today. It is the ladder through which families climb the socio-economic ladder and nations rise in stature,” he added.
Referring to the plight of humanitarian crisis in Gaza, Minister Ahsan Iqbal urged students to be thankful for the peace and freedom Pakistan offers. “We must recognize the sacrifices of our forefathers. Operation Bunyan Al-Marsous has shown our enemies that Pakistan would not be subdued. “From having no capacity to produce even bicycles at the time of independence, we are now manufacturing fighter jets like the JF-17 Thunder and launching satellites,” he proudly stated.
Underscoring the importance of consistency in leadership both in institutions and government, Mr. Iqbal warned that frequent changes hinder progress. “A school cannot progress if its principal is frequently replaced. Similarly, nations suffer when governments lack stability,” he said.
He called on educators to move beyond rote learning and promote critical thinking, innovation, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. “The future belongs to brainpower, not muscle. We must prepare our students for the challenges of the 21st century,” he urged.
In conclusion, Mr. Ahsan Iqbal reaffirmed the government’s commitment to putting Pakistan on the path of sustained progress. “When our beloved country celebrates its 100th year of independence, it should be among the world’s leading nations not only in defense but on the economic front as well.”
Following his address, the Principal of FG Public School Karachi Cantt presented a commemorative memento to the Federal Minister in appreciation of his visit and inspirational words.
