Receiving the ‘Nigar Award’ is the most significant honor of my professional life. In Pakistan, the ‘Nagar Award’ is the largest Showbiz Award, recognizing individuals from various fields, including showbiz, for their outstanding achievements. It is awarded based on performance. Being included in the award’s recipients is also a matter of great pride for me. With the weight of this award on my shoulders, my professional responsibility has increased. Now that I have been honored with this award, I will strive to continue excelling in my field.
Arshad Malik, a Senior Educator and CEO of Brooklyn Secondary School, expressed these sentiments in an informal discussion with journalists. Aslam Ilyas Rashidi, the son of the late Ilyas Rashidi, the founder of Nigar, celebrated Nigar’s Platinum Jubilee in a colorful ceremony at the Governor House in Karachi. The event was chaired by Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori, with Muhammad Ahmad Shah, President of the Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, as the Chief Guest. Hanif Raja delivered a captivating performance in his unique style, delighting the audience. Mumtaz Begum, a renowned actress in Pakistan’s film industry, made a special appearance and added grace to the event.
Aslam Rashidi, along with his colleagues Athar Javed Sufi and Abdul Wasi Qureshi, deserve appreciation for recognizing the artistic efforts of individuals from various fields associated with showbiz. They have organized the Nigar Program successfully. We hope that the ‘Nagar Award’ remains as vibrant and fruitful as a mature tree. In the program, Mumtaz Begum, a famous actress in Pakistan’s film industry, presented the Nigar Award to Arshad Malik, a Senior Educator and CEO of Brooklyn Secondary School. Aslam Rashidi, Athar Javed Sufi, and Abdul Wasi Qureshi, who conducted the ceremony with discipline and sincerity, and who welcomed everyone with open arms, do not need our pen’s praise, but they truly deserve it for their commendable efforts in organizing the Nigar Program.
