KARACHI: Pakistan Engineering Council Chairman candidate Engineer Obaidullah Khan Achakzai has
pledged to bring Pakistani engineers up to par with their counterparts in developed countries.
Addressing a delegation of engineers from various cities in Pakistan, Achakzai highlighted the
exceptional talent and proven skills of Pakistani engineers in multiple fields.
Achakzai outlined his priorities following a successful 2024 election, emphasizing the provision of
80,000 internships to unemployed engineers. He plans to offer an 80,000 rupees stipend for these
internships. Additionally, creating employment opportunities for 60,000 engineers and dismantling
long-standing mafias within the PEC are among his key objectives.
Support for Achakzai’s candidacy has been voiced by several engineering organizations, including
Insaf Engineers Pakistan, Pakistan Young Engineers, Pakistan Unemployed Engineers, Pakistan
Professional and Progressive Engineers, and the Institution of Engineers Pakistan (IEP). These groups
have assured their full cooperation and support to Achakzai’s vision for the future of Pakistani
engineers.
