KARACHI- Mohsin Sheikhani, chairman of the Association of Builders and Developers (Abad), announced a halt to work on all construction projects.
In a brief video statement issued to the media, Chairman Abad said that work on all construction projects in Karachi has been suspended since yesterday. Despite the completion of all documents, the buildings are being declared illegal.
Mohsin Sheikhani said that the confidence of investors has been severely affected. Completely regularized buildings are being demolished. People living in the buildings are afraid that the institutions should reconsider their decisions.
Chairman Abad said that initially work on construction projects in Karachi has been stopped but later the protest will be spread all over the country.
It is to be noted that the Supreme Court while rejecting the report of Commissioner Karachi, has issued a written order regarding demolition of Nasla Tower in which Nasla Tower has been ordered to be demolished immediately and debris cleared.
The Supreme Court has said that the commissioner Karachi has not yet complied with the court order. If immediate action is not taken, action will be taken against the commissioner. The Treasury Heights structure has been ordered to be demolished immediately and a report submitted on November 26.
