Karachi : A senior delegation from Baqai Medical University, Karachi, called on Mr. Syed Mustafa Kamal, Honorable Federal Minister of National Health Services & Regulation, at his Karachi office on Sunday.
The delegation was led by Dr. ShoaibBaqai, Chancellor, Baqai Medical University, and accompanied by Prof. Dr. Iftikhar Ahmed, Vice Chancellor, and Prof. Dr. KashifIkram, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Baqai Medical University, Karachi.
The meeting featured a detailed discussion on critical matters concerning medical education in Pakistan. A key issue deliberated was the outflow of foreign exchange resulting from a growing number of Pakistani students enrolling in medical institutions abroad — a trend that not only strains the country’s foreign exchange reserves but also leads to underutilisation of existing capacity within Pakistan’s well-established medical institutions.
The Federal Minister engaged constructively, acknowledging the significance of the issue and reaffirming the government’s commitment to advancing and reforming medical education in Pakistan.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the delegation presented a souvenir on behalf of Baqai Medical University to the Federal Minister.
Dr. Muhammad NaeemQaimkhani, Coordinator to the Federal Minister of National Health Services & Regulation, was also present during the meeting.
