The usury system should end in the country, under the present economic situation it is difficult to move forward. Pakistan is in dire need of increasing exports and this can only be made possible by the business community, this was stated by Governor Punjab Muhammad Balighur Rehman addressing the business community at a dinner hosted in his honour by S M Imran of M/s Din Group.
United Business Group Patron In-chief and Din Group Chairman S. There should be an immediate end of usury if we want progress & stability in the country and we have to adapt the best economic policies. The Governor criticized the policies of previous government for not fulfill the promises made to the people. Though it is difficult in a short span of time to get rid of the debts, Governor said who further elaborated that the Prime Minister was in touch with the business community, who had also given relief to the business community which would continue. Governor assured the business community that he would represent the business community as his prime responsibility.
The performance of any government is judged with statistics which business community should review. The whole nation has seen what has happened to the country for three and a half years, Governor added. During these years, the maximum loan was taken, the budget was not spent on education but the resources were wasted, the former prime minister kept saying that the prime minister would come on bicycle but despite that he traveled in a helicopter himself, there should not be contradiction between words and deeds and the nation should not believe what they hear. He added that the Charter of Economy was implemented from 2013 to 2018 by Ishaq Dar. If consistent and organized policies had been continued the country would have touched new horizon of progress. The previous government had put the country under pressure and difficult situation by making a big deal with the IMF and increased the electricity prices.
Gohar Ejaz, Patron of APTMA, said that It is important to increase exports, economic reform agenda should be the first priority, all political parties have to unite for the better interest of the country and better economic future, India and Bangladesh have gone ahead of us, we have to pull Pakistan out of the crisis interest has trapped us in the net of debt, it is clearly written in Quran Sharif that interest is forbidden, the government gave us regional energy tariff of 19.99 rupees, which is a good move by the current government because the cost of electricity has increased. Yes, 70% of textile export is now leased; there is a fear of affecting domestic export and recession, don’t send money out through money laundering, Gohar added.
