An American tourist who smashed ancient Roman statues in a Vatican City museum has been arrested.
According to the details, the American tourist came to Vatican City to see Pope Francis, when he found out that he could not see Pope Francis in the Vatican, then the tourist got angry and broke the statues.
The man, who has not been named but is believed to be in his 50s, came across the rampage while visiting the Vatican museums around noon on Wednesday.
According to a local newspaper report, the American tourist allegedly threw himself on one of the ancient statues in the museum’s Chiaramonti Hall – knocking the statue off its pedestal.
After the statue was broken, the American tourist tried to leave the museum, but was arrested by security personnel.
Museum staff took the man into custody and handed him over to the police as Vatican police arrived.
A photo of the museum can be seen on social media showing broken parts of the statue lying on the ground.
