Karachi: Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) has launched a crackdown against substandard items and closed down 24 illegal factories where substandard water bottles were being filled in just 02 days. In this connection as per directives of Director General, PSQCA Mr. Abdul Aleem Memon, the PSQCA team cracked down against Illegal / Sub-Standards Products of Bottled Drinking Water / R.O. Plants and seized 08 illegal factories at the spot. During the crackdown launched by Conformity Assessment, PSQCA Karachi Zone against illegal production of Bottled Drinking water in the different areas of Malir, Karachi. The BDW plant of M/s. New Fair Water, Unique Pure Drinking Water, The Water Company, R.O Plant. Pk, Vion Pure Drinking Water, Aspire, ROHA Water, and MAQMA Drinking Water were seized on the spot. The above units were involved in illegal manufacturing, stock, and sale of bottled drinking water, without having CM License from PSQCA, and therefore, these were seized as per SRO 638(1)/2001 of Bottled Drinking Water and PSQCA Act VI of 1996.
The Director General, PSQCA Abdul Aleem Memon has said that strict measures will be taken against the makers of illegal products and substandard items will not be tolerated in the market under the orders of the Federal government. No pressure will be accepted in this regard. He urged the officers to work honestly and commended them.
