Pakistan Must Intensify Diplomatic Efforts to Promote Regional Peace: Syed Aman Shah

Syed Aman Shah calls for stronger diplomatic efforts to promote regional peace and protect Pakistan’s economy.
Syed Aman Shah, president of the Awaam Pakistan Party Balochistan, has urged the government to intensify diplomatic efforts to ease tensions in the Gulf and the Middle East. He warned that a regional conflict or damage to energy infrastructure could create serious economic challenges for Pakistan.
Shah said Pakistan imports a significant share of its oil requirements. Therefore, any sharp rise in global oil prices could put further pressure on the national economy, weaken the Pakistani rupee and fuel inflation.
He added that higher energy costs could also reduce people’s purchasing power and increase the financial burden on households already struggling with rising living costs.
Rising Oil Prices Could Deepen Economic Pressure
Shah noted that Pakistan continues to face inflation, unemployment and broader economic challenges. In this situation, he said, the government must prepare an effective strategy to manage the potential impact of regional instability.

Moreover, he urged policymakers to pursue diplomatic engagement and support efforts to prevent further escalation. He stressed that Pakistan cannot afford the economic consequences of another war or prolonged regional conflict.
Call to Protect Border Trade and Local Livelihoods
Shah also highlighted the difficulties that disruptions to legal cross-border trade can create for traders, workers and communities living near Pakistan’s borders, including areas bordering Iran.
He called on the government to regulate, secure and facilitate lawful trade. At the same time, he said authorities should meet national security requirements without unnecessarily harming local employment and economic activity.
Greater Regional Cooperation and Energy Diversification
Shah said Pakistan should play an active role in promoting regional peace, encouraging dialogue and strengthening economic cooperation with neighbouring countries.
He also called for greater investment in alternative energy sources, wider trade relations and stronger domestic economic capacity. These measures, he argued, could help Pakistan reduce its exposure to external economic shocks.
Concluding his remarks, Shah said Pakistan’s national interests require a foreign policy that prioritises peace, regional stability, trade and the economic security of its people.
