Miley Cyrus has responded to criticism of her recent Hollywood Bowl performance, defending her commitment to live music after social media videos questioned her stage presence.

The singer addressed the backlash during her second performance at the Los Angeles venue on Sunday, October 18. The show marked her return to live performances after a four-year absence.

Cyrus said some online critics had questioned her commitment because she did not sing every word of her songs. However, she rejected suggestions that she lacked passion for performing.

“I’ve never heard that I don’t put my heart into something,” she told the audience. She also accused some social media users of creating videos for “clickbait”.

Miley Cyrus Reflects on Returning to the Stage

Cyrus acknowledged that performing live no longer felt as natural as it once had. She explained that people change and evolve over time, and their relationship with their work can change as well.

“It is hard for me to stand up here and do this show,” she said. “It does not come as natural as it once did to be before. Because, like all of us, we change, we evolve, we grow, and we find what gets to come with us.”

The singer added that returning to the stage carried personal meaning. Rather than simply meeting audience expectations, she viewed the experience as an opportunity to challenge herself and explore her evolving relationship with music.

She also made it clear that she would not accept questions about her dedication to performing.

“I can take a lot, but one thing I will not stand is any question about where my heart is when I’m on the stage. Not one. I am fully present,” Cyrus said.

Singer Responds During ‘Bass Persuades’

Cyrus also appeared to address the criticism during her performance of “Bass Persuades”. She joked, “Oh I forgot, I’m supposed to sing every  word,” seemingly referring to comments about her delivery.

The remark drew attention to the debate over her stage presence and performance style.

Cyrus released her latest album, Bass Persuades, in September. The report did not list any additional tour dates following her Hollywood Bowl appearances.
