Basmati Rice takes centre stage as Pakistan showcases its food products at SIAL Paris 2026.
Pakistan showcased its diverse food and agricultural products at SIAL Paris 2026. The international food exhibition runs from October 17 to 21 in Paris, France. On the opening day, Pakistan’s Ambassador to France, Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, inaugurated the Pakistan Pavilion.
The pavilion highlighted Pakistan’s potential as a supplier of quality food products. Moreover, it provided exporters with an opportunity to connect with international buyers.
37 Pakistani Companies Participate
A total of 37 Pakistani companies are participating under the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP). They are showcasing rice, processed foods, Himalayan pink salt, beverages and other food products.

In addition, TDAP facilitated visa arrangements for Pakistani companies participating independently. This support helped expand Pakistan’s presence at the international exhibition.
The rice sector represents a major part of the delegation. In fact, 22 of the 37 participating companies belong to this sector. Their participation highlights the importance of rice, particularly premium Basmati, in Pakistan’s exports.
Pakistani Biryani Draws Visitors
Cooked Pakistani biryani emerged as a key attraction on the exhibition’s opening day. Visitors had the opportunity to experience Pakistan’s distinctive flavours and culinary traditions.
Furthermore, the presentation demonstrated the versatility of Pakistani rice. It also highlighted its suitability for different international cuisines.
European Buyers Show Interest in Basmati Rice
Initial feedback from the exhibition indicates encouraging interest from European buyers, particularly in Pakistani Basmati rice. According to the supplied information, exporters have reported promising business prospects.
Consequently, participating companies hope to secure new orders and build stronger partnerships with European importers and distributors. These connections could help Pakistani exporters expand their international reach.
Record Rice Production Supports Export Outlook
Pakistan reportedly produced approximately 6.1 million tonnes of rice during the current season. Against this backdrop, exporters expect Basmati rice shipments to reach around 1.1 million tonnes.
The projected volume would match a level last achieved during the 2011–12 season, according to the supplied announcement. However, achieving this target will depend on market demand and export performance.
Therefore, exporters continue to emphasise quality assurance, market diversification and sustained promotional efforts. These measures can help strengthen Pakistan’s position in the global rice trade.
TDAP Promotes Pakistan’s Food Exports
Pakistan’s participation in SIAL Paris 2026 supports broader efforts to explore new markets and increase food exports. The exhibition also allows companies to demonstrate product quality and establish business-to-business connections.
Meanwhile, TDAP continues to facilitate exporters seeking access to international markets. Its support aims to promote both traditional food products and value-added goods.
The encouraging response on the opening day has created positive expectations for the remaining exhibition days. Participating companies now hope to turn buyer interest into confirmed orders and lasting commercial partnerships.
