Barcelona produced an impressive second-half performance to beat Galatasaray 4-1 in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday. Lamine Yamal played a key role in the comeback, helping the Spanish side overcome a challenging atmosphere at Istanbul’s Ali Sami Yen Stadium.

The victory lifted Barcelona to the top of the Champions League standings after two wins. Meanwhile, Galatasaray remained without a point after the opening two rounds of matches.

Barcelona dominated the early stages, although Galatasaray’s defence worked hard to limit Yamal’s influence on the right wing. Several attacks instead developed through the opposite flank.

Galatasaray Strike First

Despite Barcelona’s early pressure, Galatasaray took the lead in the 27th minute. A rapid counter-attack ended with Aleksei Batrakov firing towards goal from the edge of the penalty area. His effort deflected off João Cancelo and found the net.

The goal briefly shifted the momentum towards the Turkish hosts. Victor Osimhen then rose to meet a corner, but Bar?? Y?lmaz’s attempt to turn the ball over the line was ruled offside.

Barcelona gradually regained control. After Yamal went down near the edge of the penalty area, the ball fell to Dani Olmo. He quickly found Cancelo, who finished to bring the visitors level.

Midfielder Fermín López said the opening goal had disrupted Barcelona’s rhythm, but the team responded well and recovered its composure.

Yamal Sparks Barcelona’s Second-Half Surge

Barcelona emerged with greater intensity after the break, with Yamal taking control of the attack.

In the 50th minute, the teenager delivered a delicate, curling cross that Fermín headed into the net to give Barcelona the lead.

Three minutes later, Yamal produced another moment of individual brilliance. He beat Eren Elmal? repeatedly in a tight space before passing to Anthony Gordon, who converted the chance to extend Barcelona’s advantage.

Fermín praised Yamal’s creativity and described him as the world’s best player. He also highlighted their strong friendship and understanding on the pitch.

Barcelona Add a Fourth Goal

Yamal continued to create opportunities as Galatasaray struggled to contain Barcelona’s attacking movement.

In the 65th minute, he cut inside from the right and sent a pass towards substitute striker Gabriel Jesus. Although Jesus could not control the ball, it fell to Karim Adeyemi, who fired home Barcelona’s fourth goal.

Yamal nearly added his name to the scoresheet later in the match, but his effort sailed over the crossbar.

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick praised the teenager’s influence, saying his performance had helped turn the game around. Flick added that Yamal regularly creates similar chances during training sessions.

Barcelona Look to Maintain Their Momentum

The 4-1 victory strengthened Barcelona’s position in the Champions League as the competition’s league phase continued.

Fermín said the team had reached a high level but stressed that the season remained long and Barcelona could not afford to relax.

Yamal finished without a goal, but his creativity and movement proved decisive. The 19-year-old also took over the captain’s armband after Pedri left the field, continuing his growing leadership role at the club.

Barcelona will now look to build on their strong start as they pursue further progress in Europe’s premier club competition.
