Pakistan’s security forces killed 49 terrorists in recent intelligence-based operations across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The forces carried out the operations with police support as part of the country’s ongoing counter-terrorism campaign. ISPR said the actions targeted militant networks and aimed to prevent attacks that could threaten peace and stability.

Operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Security forces killed 12 militants during operations in Bannu, North Waziristan, Orakzai and Khyber districts. ISPR said the militants belonged to what it described as the Indian-sponsored Fitna Al Khwarij.

The forces also recovered explosives, IED detonating devices, weapons, ammunition and motorcycles during the operations. They destroyed the recovered material, according to the military’s media wing.

37 militants killed in Balochistan

In Balochistan, security forces killed 37 militants during 10 intelligence-based operations. The actions took place in Mastung, Mach, Khuzdar and Panjgur districts.

ISPR said the forces recovered weapons, explosive drums and remote-detonation equipment. They also destroyed the recovered material during the operations.

The latest actions form part of Pakistan’s continuing Azm-e-Istehkam counter-terrorism campaign. The Federal Apex Committee approved the initiative under the National Action Plan.

Security forces have also started sanitisation operations in the affected areas. These operations aim to locate and eliminate any remaining militants and clear potential threats.

ISPR reiterated that security forces and law-enforcement agencies would continue the campaign. The military said the operations would proceed at full pace against what it described as foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism.

The latest figures add to Pakistan’s continuing military campaign against militant groups operating in the country.
