CBD Punjab: Quaid & Bab District Becomes Pakistan’s First to Receive LEED Communities Gold Precertification

CBD Punjab has become the first development project in Pakistan to receive Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) for Communities Gold Precertification, marking a significant milestone in the country’s sustainable urban development efforts.

The Punjab Central Business District Development Authority (PCBDDA), also known as CBD Punjab, announced that its Quaid & Bab District received the Gold Level Precertification from the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI) after a comprehensive technical assessment.

The LEED for Communities certification is an internationally recognised framework that evaluates urban districts on environmental sustainability, resilience, infrastructure, mobility, governance, quality of life and long-term economic performance.

According to CBD Punjab, the Gold Precertification recognises the district’s master plan for integrating smart infrastructure, efficient resource management, sustainable transport systems, green public spaces and improved urban livability in line with global sustainability standards.

Chief Executive Officer Imran Amin described the recognition as a landmark achievement for both CBD Punjab and Pakistan.

“Receiving the LEED for Communities Gold Precertification is a defining moment for CBD Punjab and a proud achievement for Pakistan. It validates our vision of creating internationally competitive business districts that are environmentally sustainable, economically vibrant and designed around the needs of people,” he said.

He added that the Quaid & Bab District establishes a new benchmark for urban development by incorporating international best practices that support long-term environmental, social and economic benefits.

Imran Amin also congratulated the CBD Punjab team, consultants and project partners for their contribution to securing the international recognition and reaffirmed the authority’s commitment to sustainable development, smart urban infrastructure and innovative planning.

The authority said the certification strengthens its vision of transforming Punjab into a centre for modern, sustainable and investment-friendly urban development while positioning the Quaid & Bab District as a model for future city projects across Pakistan.
