FPCCI Pakistan Retains Key ICCD Leadership Role at Türkiye Board Meeting

FPCCI reaffirmed Pakistan’s leadership role at the 40th Board of Directors meeting of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development (ICCD) in Ankara, Türkiye. During the meeting, member states pledged to strengthen economic cooperation. They also agreed to expand trade, investment, and sustainable growth across the Islamic world.

FPCCI President Atif Ikram Sheikh said the Federation actively participated in the meeting. Business leaders and senior representatives from 19 member countries attended the session.
He welcomed the Board’s decision to renew Pakistan’s representation on the ICCD Executive Committee. The Board also retained Pakistan on the Financial Committee for the 2026–2029 term. He described the decision as recognition of FPCCI’s active role in promoting economic cooperation among OIC member states.
Board Reviews Strategic Initiatives
FPCCI Vice President Qurrat Ul Ain led the Pakistani delegation. The delegation also attended several high-level meetings and networking events.
The Board reviewed strategic programmes to strengthen ICCD’s governance and institutional capacity. It also assessed progress under the B57+ Business Leaders Network. The initiative promotes business-to-government dialogue and expands trade and investment partnerships among member countries.
In addition, the Board announced that ICCD will celebrate its Golden Jubilee in Istanbul in 2027.
Focus on Entrepreneurship and Innovation
ICCD organized several roundtable discussions and panel sessions. The agenda covered entrepreneurship, innovation, women and youth empowerment, sustainable development, food security, investment facilitation, and capacity building.
Qurrat Ul Ain joined a panel titled “Innovation & Entrepreneurship: Young and Women Entrepreneurs.” She highlighted the role of chambers of commerce in supporting entrepreneurs. She also emphasized better access to finance, stronger business ecosystems, and investment in future business leaders.
Delegation Showcases Emerging Sectors
The FPCCI delegation represented a wide range of industries. These included information technology, artificial intelligence, industrial automation, tourism, construction, logistics, transportation, and security technologies.
According to FPCCI, the delegation reflected Pakistan’s commitment to promoting emerging industries. It also demonstrated the country’s efforts to expand economic cooperation with fellow OIC member states.
