Trump Says China Agrees Iran ā€˜Cannot Have Nuclear Weapons’

Diplomatic efforts continue as the US Iran deal approaches.

The US Iran Deal moved closer to completion after President Donald Trump stated that an agreement aimed at ending regional fighting is scheduled to be signed on Sunday. His comments introduced fresh momentum into negotiations while officials in Iran continued to express caution about the exact timing.

The announcement matters because the US Iran Deal could influence regional security, global energy routes, and future nuclear negotiations. Trump also suggested that the Strait of Hormuz would reopen to all shipping immediately after the agreement is signed, a move that could affect international markets and supply chains.

Donald Trump Announces Deal Timeline

Donald Trump made the statement through social media and indicated that preparations for final approval were advancing. According to his comments, the agreement would trigger the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz after months of instability.

However, Iranian officials appeared more measured. Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei reportedly said the memorandum of understanding would likely not be signed on Sunday and emphasized that officials still needed to confirm the exact date.

This difference in messaging reflects the complex nature of diplomatic negotiations. Although public statements suggest progress, previous rounds of discussions also appeared close before facing delays during final stages.

Pakistan Supports US Iran Deal

Pakistan emerged as an active mediator during recent diplomatic efforts. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that both sides appeared closer than ever to reaching a peace arrangement.

According to his statement, technical discussions could begin shortly after an electronic signing process is completed. Pakistan also indicated preparations were underway for that next phase.

At the same time, diplomatic coordination expanded beyond one mediator. Reports also indicated that a delegation from Qatar arrived in Tehran, creating additional attention around the negotiation process.

Although the delegation’s visit created speculation, officials did not confirm whether it would alter the expected schedule.

Iran Nuclear Talks Remain Central

Another important component of the US Iran Deal involves future nuclear discussions. Trump referenced Iran’s enriched uranium stockpiles and stated that additional steps could follow after tensions ease.

For years, Western governments have accused Iran of seeking nuclear weapons capability. Iran has repeatedly denied those allegations and maintains that its nuclear programme serves peaceful purposes including electricity generation and scientific research.

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi previously stated that negotiations had moved closer to completion. He also indicated that broader regional issues, including conflict dynamics involving Lebanon, were connected to diplomatic discussions.

US officials reportedly stated that future economic benefits for Iran would depend on meeting agreed obligations.

Strait of Hormuz Gains Global Attention

The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most important shipping routes for oil and liquefied natural gas. Because of that, any agreement affecting maritime access attracts worldwide attention.

The current conflict began after US and Israeli strikes across Iran earlier this year. Iran later responded with attacks targeting Israel and US-aligned interests in the Gulf region, while shipping disruptions raised concerns globally.

Although a ceasefire was announced in April, intermittent military exchanges continued afterward.

Meanwhile, uncertainty remains in neighboring areas. Israel has maintained that it is not part of the current arrangement and continues operations linked to security concerns involving Hezbollah.

Regional developments therefore continue to shape expectations around implementation.

Regional Diplomacy Faces Final Test

The latest announcements suggest momentum, yet previous negotiations also approached completion without producing a final agreement.

For that reason, observers continue watching official statements from Washington, Tehran, Islamabad, and Doha before treating any timeline as confirmed.

If the agreement proceeds as expected, attention will likely shift toward implementation measures, regional security arrangements, and future nuclear negotiations in the coming weeks.
