During the visit, the interior minister inspected the dedicated Saudi immigration counters established for Pakistani pilgrims and interacted with officials and passengers to assess the efficiency of the system. The “Road to Makkah” initiative enables Hajj pilgrims to complete Saudi immigration formalities at Pakistani airports before departure, significantly reducing processing time upon arrival in Saudi Arabia.
Pilgrims expressed satisfaction over the arrangements at Islamabad Airport and appreciated the smooth and hassle-free immigration process. Several passengers informed the minister that the immigration clearance was completed within minutes due to the efficient handling and fully operational counters.
Mohsin Naqvi also reviewed facilities for international passengers and inspected the Joint Search Check Post at the airport. During the inspection, he directed authorities to further improve and expedite the security screening and search process to ensure both passenger convenience and enhanced security standards.
Addressing officials during the visit, the interior minister said the government is upgrading airport security systems through modern technology while maintaining a balance between facilitation and security. He stressed the importance of close coordination among all relevant departments to ensure efficient airport operations and timely services for travelers.
Senior officials, including Director General FIA Dr. Usman Anwar and Director FIA Islamabad Zone Shehzad Bukhari, accompanied the minister during the inspection.
The visit reflects the government’s continued focus on improving airport management, passenger experience, and security arrangements ahead of the Hajj season.
