A new agreement between the University of Leicester (UK) and the University of Central Punjab (UCP) will see students split their studies between Pakistan and the United Kingdom.

The two universities have joined forces to offer UCP students the opportunity to study for a BSc in Economics and Data Analytics or Accounting and Finance. The programmes, which are accredited by the UK university, will see undergraduates study at Lahore-based UCP for two years, followed by two years of study in Leicester.

A Leicester delegation travelled to Lahore for the official signing of the agreement, which took place on Monday 15 December.

Professor Dan Ladley, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Head of College and Executive Dean of the University of Leicester School of Business said: “We are excited to build this new partnership with the University of Central Punjab and see it as an inspiring opportunity that will continue to grow and benefit both universities in the years ahead.

“This marks the first formal agreement between the University of Leicester School of Business and UCP, and we look forward to developing a truly engaging and collaborative relationship. Together, we aim to create meaningful opportunities for students and staff, foster academic exchange, and strengthen the educational bridge between our two institutions.”

Professor Hammad Naveed, Pro-Rector, University of Central Punjab, said: “We are delighted to explore a meaningful partnership with the University of Leicester. At the University of Central Punjab, we have always believed that global engagement is fundamental to academic excellence. Since the 1990s, our institution has consistently fostered international collaborations that enrich learning, advance research, and broaden opportunities for our students and faculty.

“UCP stands today as one of Pakistan’s leading universities, recognised for its strong academic programmes, state-of-the-art facilities, industry-linked curriculum, and commitment to innovation and knowledge creation. Our vibrant community, diverse disciplines, and forward-looking approach make us a natural partner for institutions seeking impactful joint initiatives.

“We see tremendous potential in building a strategic collaboration with the University of Leicester – one that can grow, evolve, and create lasting value for both universities in the years to come. Together, we can open new pathways for research, mobility, and shared academic excellence.”
