The Pakistan Champions squad for the World Championship of Legends 2025 has been officially announced, with the inclusion of middle-order batter Umar Amin standing out as a notable surprise.
This marks the first time Umar Amin will represent Pakistan in this legends format. The team is set to kick off their campaign today, July 18, against England Champions at Edgbaston, Birmingham — the same venue where the second season of this global event begins. Former captain Mohammad Hafeez has been named as the new team leader, replacing Younis Khan, who, along with Misbah-ul-Haq, has not been selected this time around.
Key new entries include wicketkeeper-batter Sarfaraz Ahmed and left-arm pacer Rumman Raees, while experienced stars such as Shahid Afridi, Shoaib Malik, Sharjeel Khan, Wahab Riaz, and Sohail Tanvir have retained their spots. In the previous season, Pakistan Champions impressed fans by defeating Australia, West Indies, and India, eventually reaching the final after a strong semi-final performance.
Notably, they had posted a huge total of 243 against India in the group stage, securing a dominant 68-run win. However, in the final, Pakistan lost to India by five wickets. The tournament features six teams comprising retired international stars from Pakistan, India, England, Australia, South Africa, and West Indies. The most anticipated clash — Pakistan vs. India — is scheduled for July 20 at Edgbaston. The full Pakistan Champions squad includes Mohammad Hafeez (Captain), Shoaib Malik, Sohaib Maqsood, Umar Amin, Sharjeel Khan, Sarfaraz Ahmed (Wicketkeeper), Shahid Afridi, Asif Ali, Aamer Yamin, Wahab Riaz, Rumman Raees, Sohail Tanvir, and Sohail Khan.
