Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has announced that the first section of the Malir Expressway is likely to open for public use on January 11 or 12. The update was shared during a progress review meeting chaired by the CM, which was attended by Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani, Chief Secretary Asif Haider Shah, Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab, Special Assistant Qasim Naveed, Karachi Commissioner Hassan Naqvi, Additional IG Karachi Javed Alam Odhno, and other senior officials.
The meeting highlighted the completion of the expressway’s initial 9-kilometer stretch. The CM revealed that the expressway will be equipped with an automated toll collection system featuring 18 booths to provide a hassle-free experience for commuters.
Additionally, security arrangements were discussed, with plans to deploy 7 to 8 police vehicles for patrolling to ensure safety along the route.
The toll fees for the expressway have been set at Rs. 100 for cars and Rs. 200 for buses.
