Karachi: On Monday, Natasha Danish, the driver involved in the fatal Karsaz accident, was denied bail in a drug case. Her medical report revealed she was under the influence of crystal meth during the crash on August 19, which involved her speeding Toyota Land Cruiser hitting three motorcycles and another car. The accident tragically killed sixty-year-old Imran Arif and his daughter Amna, and injured three others.
While Danish was previously granted bail in the manslaughter case after the victims’ family forgave her, her request for bail in the drug case was contested. Her defense claimed that the blood and urine tests might have been tampered with, but the state prosecutor argued that these allegations were without merit.
Judge Muhammad Raza Ansari denied the bail, stating that the defense’s claims were unproven and that there was no evidence of tampering. The judge expressed concern that granting bail could negatively affect public perception and criticized the fact that a “highly educated woman” was driving under the influence. Danish’s legal team is now appealing the decision to Additional District and Sessions Judge Shahid Ali Memon.
