Karachi: Chairperson of Saraiki Women Association, social activist Karam Akhtar, inaugurated Dastarkhuwan Janab Khadijatul-Kubra in Orangi Town, Chishti Nagar. The community kitchen has been established by the Young Student Welfare Trust with the help of generous donors.

It offers meals at a subsidized cost of 10 rupees per roti and 40 rupees for a full meal.

During the opening ceremony, several dignitaries and guests, including Saraiki Women Association’s members Seema Ikram, Shaheen Siddiqui, Haleema Shah Zaman, and Farhan Siddiqui, were present. Prominent scholars such as Maulana Muhammad Peer, Chairman of Mahban-e-Insaniyat Syed Safdar Gilani, Chairman of Young Student Salman Shah, and General Secretary Muhammad Qureshi also graced the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Karam Akhtar applauded the efforts of the Young Student team and their dedication to providing affordable meals. She highlighted the rising inflation, making it challenging for both the poor and the middle class to afford three meals a day. The newly established community kitchen aims to serve not only the underprivileged but also welcome those in need from the middle-income bracket, she added.

The ‘Dastarkhuwan Janab Khadijatul-Kubra’ community kitchen extends its services to all, ensuring that even financially struggling families can avail nutritious food for themselves and their children, she concluded.
