Syed Sadequain Ahmed Naqvi was born on 30 June 1923 in history to a family of calligraphers in Amroha, India. In the 1940s Sadequain joined the Progressive Writers and Artists Movement of Pakistan. Later his talent was discovered by Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy who brought Sadequain into the limelight. He is regarded as world-renowned Pakistan’s finest calligraphers, muralists, and painters with over 15,000 pieces in his repertoire, consisting of giant calligraphic murals, figurative art, and drawings and not to mention, several thousand pieces of poetry. Sadequain died on 10 February 1987 in Karachi, Pakistan at the age of 63. He is buried in the Sakhi Hassan graveyard in Karachi. On the 10 February 34th Death Anniversary of Syed Sadequain Ahmed Naqvi, best known for his skills as a calligrapher and a painter.
In 1960, the Government of Pakistan Awarded Tamgha-e-Imtiaz. In 1961, the Government of France Awarded “Biennale de Paris Award”. In 1962, the President of Pakistan awarded the Pride of Performance Award. In 1975, the Government of Australia Awarded the “Cultural Award”. In 1980, the Government of Pakistan awarded Sitara-e-Imtiaz. In 2000, the Sadequain Institute of Arts & Information Technology was established in Karachi.

- In 1955 he made a mural at Jinnah sanatorium.
- In 1963 he visited the USA and arranged many exhibitions.
- During 1964-1965 he elucidated a novel L’Etranger written by a French writer.
- In 1967 he carried out fresco painting at the world’s 7th largest Dam, Mangla Dam.
- In 1968 he completed fresco painting at the library of Punjab University Lahore.
- In 1969 he amazed his fans with the Calligraphy of Quran’s 55th Surat, Surat Rehman.
- In 1970 he made a paragon compilation of rubaiyat. Pakistan’s Literary Society adjudicated it for 1st prize. He published his rubaiyat book, Rubaiyat-E-Sadequain Naqash.
- In 1973 he carried out fresco painting in Lahore Museum.
- In 1974 he arranged exhibitions in Eastern Europe and the Middle East.
- In 1976 he completed Mural at NBP (National Bank of Pakistan) Lahore.
- In 1977 he displayed the poetry of renowned poets Iqbal, Ghalib, and Faiz on the canvas.
- In 1979 he did fresco painting in Abu Dhabi.
- In 1985 he displayed the poetry of Faiz Ahmed Faiz.
- In 1986 completed Mural at Karachi’s Frere Hall
