KARACHI : 1 st meeting of Sub-Committee of NSSC for Food Standards was held at PSQCA in the
Committee Room of PSQCA-Complex, GuIistan-e-Johar Karachi, attended by representative from
PSQCA, Provincial Food Authorities, Pakistan Business Council, Board of Investment (BOI) and
Ministry of Commerce participated in the meeting and the committee discussed the followings :
The meeting was convened for the implementation of Council of Common Interests
(CCI) decision.
After achieving of the first milestone that is harmonization of standards at National
Level, the committee discussed the regulatory model for ease of doing business for facilitation of
industry as well to safe guard the consumer interest through robust regulation mechanism between
federal and provincial level.
The committee also discussed the International regulation good practices. The committee
also unanimously agreed on the revision of rules/laws which are duplication and revision of business
processes.
After the meeting of Sub-Committee of NSSC for Food Standards the representatives of
Punjab Food Authority, Sindh Food Authority, KP Food Safety and Halal Food Authority and
Balochistan Food Authority met with DG PSQCA and discussed the progress on harmonization of Food
Standards.
The DG PSQCA informed the Provincial Food Authorities that PSQCA is trying to
achieves the vision of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah i.e. “I would like Pakistan to become a
synonym and hallmark for standards and quality in the market-place of the world” and with the
support of Provincial Food Authorities. The representatives of the Provincial Food Authorities expressed
their full cooperation for achieving the goal and to make a transparent mechanism of regulation within
the country and their full support to PSQCA for promoting the “Made in Pakistan Products” with full
trust of local consumers as well as acceptance/demand in International market.
