Bangladesh: At least 18 people have been killed in violent clashes across Bangladesh, with dozens injured, as tensions between protesters and ruling Awami League supporters escalate. The violence, which follows previous clashes that claimed over 200 lives, erupted during ongoing protests against a controversial government job quota system. Demonstrators are demanding Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s resignation, rejecting her invitation for dialogue. The Home Ministry has imposed an indefinite curfew nationwide starting at 6 pm. Prime Minister Hasina condemned the violence, calling the perpetrators “terrorists” and urging the public to take firm action against them. Renewed clashes have spread to several regions, resulting in additional casualties and damage. The protests, initially driven by demands for quota reforms, have grown into broader calls for government change, leading to significant disruptions and heightened security measures.
