KARACHI – “The industrialists of Sialkot are the pride of Pakistan and examples of excellence. The self-help initiatives undertaken by them is a testimony of private sector vision and action”. This was stated by Ismail Suttar, President Employers’ Federation of Pakistan in a meeting in the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry.


Ismail Suttar, who was leading an EFP delegation, apprised the SCCI office bearers of the workings of EFP and the broad-based activities that EFP has taken and continues to take. He added that EFP desired to work closely with SCCI and other Chambers to achieve the much-needed objectives of economic progress and prosperity. He stressed that depending on the government to bring the change is no more an option.
Ashraf Malik, President SCCI, while welcoming the EFP delegation, informed that the Sialkot Airport established by the private sector has facilitated the exporters very substantially. He added that SCCI in association with Shifa Hospital is setting up a state of the art modern hospital costing Rs. 7 Billion. Moreover, due to the efforts of SCCI, the Ramada Hotel is being built near the Airport.
Malik disclosed that SCCI has proposed to the Prime Minister, Imran Khan that an education park be set up in Sialkot where leading academic institutions can set up their campuses.
EFP Vice President, Zaki Ahmed Khan complimented SCCI and especially its President for their positive approach and service not only to 15,000 members but to the general public.
EFP former President, Majyd Aziz, director, Malik Tahir Javed, director economic council Mehmood Arshad, SCCI SVP Khurram Azim Khan, VP Chaudhary Jalil Aslam also participated in the meeting and expressed their views and opinions as to how the private sector can now play a prominent and leading role for a better life for the citizens.
