Pakistan and Turkiye Sign Agreement to Strengthen Counterterrorism Cooperation
Interior ministers agree to establish a Joint Working Group and expand collaboration against narcotics trafficking, cybercrime and illegal immigration

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Turkiye have agreed to strengthen cooperation against terrorism, narcotics trafficking and organised crime. Both countries will also establish a Joint Working Group to improve coordination between their interior ministries.
The agreement was reached during a meeting between Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and his Turkish counterpart, Mustafa Çiftçi, at the Turkish Ministry of Interior in Istanbul.
According to Pakistan’s Interior Ministry, both sides agreed to expand cooperation through technical assistance, expert exchanges and joint initiatives.
Cooperation to Expand Across Security Sectors
The two ministers discussed collaboration in cyber policing, narcotics control and police training. They also agreed to strengthen cooperation involving Pakistan’s Anti-Narcotics Force and National Police Academy.
The proposed Joint Working Group will provide a platform for closer coordination between the two countries. It is expected to support practical initiatives and information-sharing in areas of mutual interest.

Turkiye Acknowledges Pakistan’s Action Against Illegal Immigration
During the meeting, Naqvi briefed his Turkish counterpart on Pakistan’s crackdown against networks involved in illegal immigration.
Çiftçi said the rate of illegal immigration from Pakistan to Turkiye had declined from 70% to 17%. He welcomed Pakistan’s measures and acknowledged the reported reduction.
Both ministers reaffirmed their commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation on internal security and law enforcement.
Naqvi Arrives in Istanbul on Official Visit
Naqvi arrived in Istanbul earlier for an official visit to Turkiye. He received a welcome at the airport before holding talks with his Turkish counterpart.
The latest agreement reflects efforts by Pakistan and Turkiye to strengthen security ties and improve cooperation against cross-border crime.
