On Sunday afternoon, a large group of protesters gathered in Islamabad, voicing strong emotions in response to recent events in Iran. The demonstrators, most of whom were dressed in black, marched together and chanted slogans including “Death to America, death to Israel,” according to reports.

Among the participants was Kazim Hussain, a student and activist associated with the Imamia Students Organisation (ISO). Hussain was seen holding a portrait of Ayatollah Khamenei, Iran’s supreme leader. Speaking to sources, he emphasized that the ongoing crisis in Iran was not merely a distant geopolitical issue but one that held deep personal significance for many Shia Muslims in Pakistan.

“This is not just an attack on Iran. It concerns all Shia Muslims,” Hussain stated, raising his voice above the crowd as they marched towards the US embassy. He further remarked, “The death of Ayatollah Khamenei will not end the movement. It has strengthened it.”

Reports indicate that Hussain’s sentiments reflect a broader wave of anger and grief within Pakistan’s Shia community following the assassination of Iran’s supreme leader. The incident has occurred amid escalating attacks by Israel and heightened tensions in the region.

The demonstration in Islamabad highlights the emotional and political impact of the developments in Iran on communities within Pakistan. Protesters expressed solidarity with the Shia population and voiced concerns about the implications of the crisis for the wider region.

Sources suggest that the protest was marked by a strong sense of unity and resolve among participants, who see the events in Iran as directly affecting their own community. The march towards the US embassy underscored the protesters’ demands and their desire to draw attention to the situation unfolding across the border.
